Reason For This Ministry
It was never my desire to begin an outdoor ministry! My love for the Lord and His outdoors became a passionate mix that created this ministry. I was taught to hunt by my father, Thurman Eaton, at a young age. The hunting preference for us was quail hunting with our ole pointer "Bonnie" and our setter "Earl."
My hunting days lessened as I grew older; I began playing ball, sought an education, and thankfully got married. In my early twenties I began hunting again. The occasional deer hunt would happen, and then the duck hunting started. My hunting preference today is turkey, waterfowl, dove, and deer.
As I became a father and started hunting with my son, Andrew, I realized how much I learned about life by encountering the great outdoors. Some of my most pivotal decisions were finalized while I was "in the woods." Some of the most critical conversations that I have ever had with my father and my son occurred while being outdoors.
I am a now a pastor and have been for twenty-seven years. The day I told my dad I was called to the preaching and pastoral ministry I told him on a horseback ride in western Kentucky. The day my son told me he was called to ministry was while we were turkey hunting in Grayson County, Ky. As he told me, an ole gobbler was gobbling, or Amening, on a near by ridge.
The reason for this ministry is simple. As people encounter the outdoors, they are ripe to encounter God. This ministry exists to help connect people to a loving and satisfying relationship with Jesus Christ. I simply use hunting, dog training, game call design, seminars, conferences, retreats, guided hunts, and shooting sports to help connect people to Jesus Christ.
